(FAU)<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Durante los d\u00edas<strong> 27 y 30 de junio de 2022<\/strong>, la <strong>Fuerza A\u00e9rea Uruguaya (FAU)<\/strong> realiz\u00f3 un ejercicio combinado de <strong>Reabastecimiento En Vuelo (REVO) <\/strong>denominado <strong>TANQUE 2022<\/strong>, con aeronaves operando desde la <strong>Brigada A\u00e9rea II,<\/strong> ubicada cercana y al norte de la ciudad de <strong>Durazno<\/strong>, en la localidad de Santa Bernardina, centro de Uruguay. El prop\u00f3sito de esta operaci\u00f3n fue entrenar, calificar y recalificar en REVO a las tripulaciones de los reactores de ataque <strong>Cessna A-37B Dragonfly<\/strong> y de un turboh\u00e9lice <strong>Lockheed Martin KC-130H H\u00e9rcules <\/strong>(K para cisterna, C para carga). Los Dragonfly \u2013 principal modelo de combate de la FAU y \u00fanico avi\u00f3n equipado con una <strong>sonda de reabastecimiento a\u00e9reo <\/strong>(un tipo de lanza fija, instalada en su nariz) forman parte del <strong>Escuadr\u00f3n A\u00e9reo no. 2 (Caza)<\/strong> con base en Durazno, mientras que el H\u00e9rcules pertenece al <strong>Escuadr\u00f3n A\u00e9reo no. 3 (Transporte)<\/strong>. Este \u00faltimo se despleg\u00f3 desde la <strong>Brigada A\u00e9rea I, <\/strong>cercana a Montevideo, la capital del pa\u00eds . Dicha base comparte las pistas del <strong>Aeropuerto Internacional de Montevideo Gral. Ces\u00e1reo L. La peque\u00f1a naci\u00f3n sudamericana adquiri\u00f3 dos aviones cisterna y de transporte a\u00e9reo <strong>KC-130H H\u00e9rcules <\/strong>del <strong>Ej\u00e9rcito del Aire Espa\u00f1ol (EdA &#8211; Fuerza A\u00e9rea Espa\u00f1ola) <\/strong>en diciembre de 2020. Ubicada en la nariz adyacente a la ametralladora rotativa <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">MiniGun GAU-2B<\/mark><\/mark> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">de seis tubos y calibre 7,62mm. Construidos en Estados Unidos y designados como TK-10 por su anterior operador (EdA), todav\u00eda muestran con orgullo el esquema de pintura original. Dentro de la FAU se han registrado como <strong>FAU 594 y 595 <\/strong>(n\u00fameros de serie LM 4648 y 4642 respectivamente). Los aviones construidos durante <strong>1975\/76 <\/strong>son m\u00e1s nuevos y mejor equipados que los<strong> C-130B-LM <\/strong>que reemplaza; a saber, FAU 591 ex-61-0971 (c\/n 3668) y 592 ex-60-0295 (c\/n 3596) construidos en 1960 y 1961. Estos aviones fueron comprados en 1992 con un tercer ex USAF C-130B, ex -58-0744 (c\/n 3541) obtenido en abril de 1994. Este \u00faltimo fue registrado como FAU 593, nunca vol\u00f3 en Uruguay y fue utilizado como fuente de repuestos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">Equipado con <strong>cuatro motores turboh\u00e9lice Allison T-56-15 <\/strong>(en la actualidad Allison forma parte de la empresa britanica Rolls Royce) cada uno produce <strong>3.750 hp.<\/strong> Capaz de operar d\u00eda y noche y en cualquier condici\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica, la aeronave tiene dos estaciones de reabastecimiento de combustible (<em>pods<\/em>) bajo las alas, llamadas <strong><em>\u201cHose Drum Unit\u201d&nbsp;<\/em> (HDU) <\/strong>en ingl\u00e9s &#8211; algo as\u00ed como \u201cUnidad de Tambor de Mangueras\u201d. Estas son fabricadas por la empresa estadounidense <strong>Sargent Fletcher Inc.<\/strong> (hoy subsidiaria de la brit\u00e1nica Cobham plc.), <strong>modelo 48-000<\/strong>. Cada una de ellas instaladas en pilones subalares se encuentran ubicadas en cada ala, fuera de borda de los motores. A pesar de lucir como tanques de combustible externos, los HDU son del tipo seco <strong>(no portan combustible)<\/strong> pero si el andamiaje electromec\u00e1nico e hidr\u00e1ulico, as\u00ed como el sistema <em>reel <\/em>que activa el despliegue y repliegue de mangueras semirr\u00edgidas las cuales portan las cuplas de reabastecimiento (canasta). Cada <em>pod<\/em> contiene 26 m (85 pies) de manguera modelo FR-300, acoplamiento MA-2 y <em>paradrogue<\/em> (canasta) de 1 m (27 pulgadas) de di\u00e1metro.Los <strong>tanques de combustible externos <\/strong>debajo de las alas pueden transportar hasta <strong>9,000 libras (4,082kg) <\/strong>de combustible cada uno, lo que ampl\u00eda en cuatro horas el alcance de la aeronave. En la cabina se puede instalar un <strong>tanque de combustible de fuselaje removible <\/strong>de <strong>3.600 USgal (13.627,48 litros)<\/strong>. La transferencia de combustible en vuelo a la aeronave receptora se puede realizar directamente desde los seis tanques alares del KC-130H, incluso cuando se instala el tanque extra\u00edble. Desde dicho tanque tambi\u00e9n se puede suministrar combustible a los propios motores del H\u00e9rcules para ampliar su alcance. La transferencia desde el tanque del fuselaje se logra mediante dos bombas accionadas el\u00e9ctricamente montadas internamente, con una tasa de bombeo m\u00e1xima de <strong>300 USgal (1.135,62 litros) por minuto <\/strong>para cada aeronave receptora. (Ernesto Blanco Calcagno\/www.airpressman.com)<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p>Con estas modificaciones el <strong>peso normal de despegue subi\u00f3 a 155.000 lb<\/strong> (20.000 lb m\u00e1s que la versi\u00f3n B) para operaciones b\u00e1sicas o a un m\u00e1ximo de 175.000 lb para misiones militares. En la cabina se pueden llevar <strong>92 pasajeros o 64 paracaidistas<\/strong>, as\u00ed como<strong> veh\u00edculos peque\u00f1os<\/strong>, un <strong>helic\u00f3ptero mediano <\/strong>y el mencionado dep\u00f3sito de combustible interno extra\u00edble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-small-font-size\"><em><strong>(Nota de Airpressman<\/strong>: al momento de escribir el KC-130H FAU 594 se encuentra participando del Ejercicio Cooperacion IX en Per\u00fa, junto a otras doce fuerza a\u00e9reas americanas. La aeronave transport\u00f3 en su interior a un helic\u00f3ptero Bell UH-1H \u00abIroquois\u00bb &#8211; FAU 059 &#8211; que tambi\u00e9n participar\u00e1 de las operaciones a\u00e9reas)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La banda de altitud para las <strong>operaciones de REVO es de 1.500 pies a 23.000 pies,<\/strong> con un rango de velocidad de <strong>195 a 250 Kt<\/strong>. Diferentes par\u00e1metros, y una canasta m\u00e1s grande, se usar\u00edan para reabastecer helic\u00f3pteros, sin embargo, en la actualidad la FAU no posee aeronaves de ala rotatoria con sondas\/lanza para REVO. Los <strong>KC-130H han sido ampliamente modernizados <\/strong>por la firma espa\u00f1ola CASA en un proceso que comenz\u00f3 en noviembre de 1995 y cont\u00f3 con la colaboraci\u00f3n del fabricante Lockheed Martin. El programa inclu\u00eda mejoras en cuatro \u00e1reas:<strong> estructura, avi\u00f3nica, comunicaciones y sistemas de autoprotecci\u00f3n.<\/strong> Se cambiaron las secciones externas de las medias alas y se blindaron la cabina de vuelo y los asientos de la tripulaci\u00f3n, para brindar protecci\u00f3n a la misma en fases cr\u00edticas de las operaciones en un entorno hostil. En cuanto a los sistemas de vuelo y navegaci\u00f3n, se realiz\u00f3 un trabajo integral que incluy\u00f3 la incorporaci\u00f3n del bus digital de datos <strong>MIL-STD-1553B <\/strong>que integra todos los sistemas actualizados. Est\u00e1 presente un sistema <strong>TCAS (<em>Traffic Collision Avoidance System\/<\/em>Sistema de Evitaci\u00f3n de Colisiones, por sus siglas en Ingl\u00e9s) Honeywell MILACAS-XR TCAS II (versi\u00f3n 7),<\/strong> dispositivo que los viejos C-130B no pose\u00edan. Para las comunicaciones, se incluye una radio UHF Magnavox AN\/ARC-164 \u201cHave Quick\u201d, dos radios HF AN\/ARC-127 de Collins, dos ADF AN\/ARN 149 y un transpondedor IFF AN\/ANX-100, estos dos \u00faltimos del fabricante Allied Signal. Como sistema de autoprotecci\u00f3n de las aeronaves, se incorpor\u00f3 el Receptor de Alerta de Radar (RWR\/<em>Radar Warning Receiver<\/em>) Sanders AN-ALQ-156 que proporciona una cobertura de 360\u00ba y lanzadores de bengalas y chaff AN\/ALE-47 de la firma Tracor. La naci\u00f3n vecina tambi\u00e9n posee <strong>dos KC-130H <\/strong>en sus filas desde fines de los 70 y proporcion\u00f3 en varias ocasiones, uno de estos aviones cisterna con instructores para entrenar a las tripulaciones uruguayas, tanto de transporte como a los pilotos de Dragonfly. Los tutores del H\u00e9rcules se trasladaban desde la <strong>I Brigada A\u00e9rea de la Base A\u00e9rea El Palomar <\/strong>en la Provincia de Buenos Aires, donde se encuentran los dos <strong>KC-130H de la FAA matr\u00edculas TC-69 &#8211; veterano de la guerra de Malvinas\/Falklands &#8211; y TC-70.<\/strong> Para las tareas relacionadas a los Dragonfly los encargados fueron dos pilotos de reactores<strong> Lockheed Martin A-4AR Fightinghawk del Grupo 5 de Caza (G5C )<\/strong> con base en la <strong>V Brigada A\u00e9rea <\/strong>ubicada en Villa Reynolds, provincia de San Luis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las tripulaciones del <strong>Escuadr\u00f3n 2 <\/strong>de la FAU, se entrenaron por primera vez en <strong>REVO durante 1990<\/strong> en cuatro <strong>A-37B de la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de EE.UU. (<em>United States Air Force<\/em>-USAF) <\/strong>desplegados a Uruguay, junto con pilotos instructores estadounidenses del<strong> 24\u00b0 Escuadr\u00f3n de Apoyo A\u00e9reo T\u00e1ctico \u201cGolden Jaguars\u201d (de Howard AB, Zona del Canal de Panam\u00e1)<\/strong>, siendo un reactor <strong>Boeing KC-135 \u201cStratotanker\u201d <\/strong>de la USAF, la plataforma de reabastecimiento elegida en ese momento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">Una vez m\u00e1s en el <strong>TANQUE 2022 <\/strong>tambi\u00e9n estuvo presente el personal argentino &#8211; esta vez sin su KC-130H &#8211; que actu\u00f3 en las primeras misiones, brindando instrucci\u00f3n tanto en los H\u00e9rcules de la FAU como en sus Dragonfly. Posteriormente, el entrenamiento en los A-37B fue realizado por instructores del propio escuadr\u00f3n , a saber, el actual comandante de escuadr\u00f3n y su predecesor. Durante el TANQUE 2010, algunos pilotos uruguayos se calificaron como instructores de REVO y, por lo tanto, posteriormente capacitaron a sus propios colegas. Se pusieron a disposici\u00f3n dos aviones Dragonfly &#8211; los FAU 282 y 285 &#8211; y como en ejercicios de a\u00f1os anteriores, despu\u00e9s de cada vuelo, los reactores aterrizaron y se detuvieron en un extremo de la pista 03-21. En cabecera de pista, cada A-37B apagaba su motor izquierdo para permitir que \u201calumno\u201d (sentado en el asiento izquierdo) descendiera, mientras que el motor derecho se manten\u00eda en marcha. Esta acci\u00f3n era supervisada en tierra por nutridos grupos de aerot\u00e9cnicos, especialistas en el reactor de Cessna. (Ernesto Blanco Calcagno\/www.airpressman.com)<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>El <strong>KC-130H (FAU 595) vol\u00f3 con una tripulaci\u00f3n de tres pilotos, dos navegantes y siete suboficiales <\/strong>de mantenimiento; incluyendo un <strong>ingeniero de vuelo <\/strong>que opera el <strong>\u201c<em>Auxiliary Fuel Panel<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> (Panel Auxiliar de Combustible) en la parte superior central de la cabina de mando, desde el cual se controla el suministro de combustible a los jets receptores. Otro tarea de gran importancia, la realiza el <strong>suboficial jefe de carga<\/strong>, convirti\u00e9ndose en los ojos y o\u00eddos de la tripulaci\u00f3n de vuelo durante las operaciones REVO. \u00c9l\/ella se ubica en la parte trasera de la cabina principal del avi\u00f3n, manteniendo comunicaciones de intercomunicaci\u00f3n constantes con la tripulaci\u00f3n de vuelo. La estandarizaci\u00f3n de los procedimientos y su seguridad se logra as\u00ed mientras se lleva a cabo el REVO, en idioma ingl\u00e9s, con las fuerzas a\u00e9reas de diferentes naciones. En Durazno antes de cada misi\u00f3n se proporcion\u00f3 un <em>briefing <\/em>de los <strong>Procedimientos Operativos Est\u00e1ndar (SOP-<em>Standard Operating Procedures<\/em>)<\/strong> e informaci\u00f3n completa sobre el sistema <strong>HDU del KC-130H <\/strong>mencionado anteriormente, que identifica claramente al KC-130H de las versiones no aptas para REVO del omnipresente H\u00e9rcules. Este dispositivo contiene la <strong>canasta de 27 pulgadas (68 cm) <\/strong>de ancho, que al desplegarse en vuelo, proporciona una fuerza estabilizadora para evitar movimientos err\u00e1ticos y oscilantes. (indicativo TANQUE) <\/strong>part\u00eda previo a los reactores al comienzo de cada misi\u00f3n, despleg\u00e1ndose entonces hacia el <strong>AAR <em>Area <\/em>(<em>Air to Air Refuelling Area-AARA<\/em>\/\u00c1rea de Reabastecimiento en Vuelo).<\/strong> En este espacio a\u00e9reo definido para el encuentro o <strong>RV (<em>Rendevouz\/<\/em>Reuni\u00f3n<em>)<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>de las aeronaves participantes, es conformado por un <strong>trayecto con forma de&nbsp;hip\u00f3dromo <\/strong>(cada \u00f3rbita de la misma se completa en 20 minutos) y su espacio a\u00e9reo protegido; donde se realizaban las operaciones. El \u00e1rea seleccionada se encontraba <strong>20 mn al norte de Durazno<\/strong>, en la <strong>radial 350 del VOR (DUR) <\/strong>de la Brigada II. Las altitudes y velocidades elegidas fueron FL150 y 200Kt, manteniendo a todas las aeronaves protegidas dentro de la TMA de Durazno y en condiciones VFR. Idealmente, el KC-130H cisterna deber\u00eda arribar a la AARA, 30 minutos antes que los reactores de combate para completar importantes controles previos al REVO.&nbsp; Procesos como la comprobaci\u00f3n exitosa de la extensi\u00f3n y retracci\u00f3n de las mangueras del HDU (al menos tres veces) y el correcto funcionamiento de todas las frecuencias de comunicaci\u00f3n. El mismo es parte de las modificaciones realizadas con la instalaci\u00f3n  de los nuevos asientos eyectables Martin Baker -UY8LD (Iuri C\u00e1mara\/www.airpressman.com)<\/mark> <em><strong>Informe completo sobre la instalaci\u00f3n de los asientos Martin Baker en este enlace:<\/strong><\/em><strong> <a data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1826\" href=\"https:\/\/airpressman.com\/martin-baker-espanol\/\">Martin Baker: M\u00e1s vida para un Veterano Reactor.<\/a><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Los <strong>A-37B navegaban hacia al AARA<\/strong> con asistencia y vectores de radar <strong>(llamados RV Alpha o Anchor RV por la OTAN)<\/strong> proporcionados por una <strong>estaci\u00f3n de control de radar.<\/strong> Los <strong>Dragonfly no poseen un radar de interceptaci\u00f3n a bordo<\/strong>, por lo cual la gu\u00eda es proporcionada por el <strong>Comando A\u00e9reo de Operaciones (COA &#8211;&nbsp; indicativo Halc\u00f3n)<\/strong> ubicado en las instalaciones del <strong>Comando General de la FAU en la Base A\u00e9rea Boiso Lanza,<\/strong> al norte de Montevideo. El COA recibe informaci\u00f3n sobre los contactos de radar (<em>targets<\/em>) por parte de dos radares <strong>Indra Lanza 3D (PSR-<em>Primary Surveillance Radar\/<\/em>Radar de Vigilancia Primaria) <\/strong>de fabricaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola. En el punto de encuentro RV, el Dragonfly se convierte en un <strong>\u00abreceptor\u00bb<\/strong> y procede hacia el cisterna desde 1000 pies por debajo del mismo. Esta acci\u00f3n proporciona una mejor visi\u00f3n del H\u00e9rcules, minimizando la posible p\u00e9rdida de contacto visual, y consecuente riesgo de colisi\u00f3n. A continuaci\u00f3n el A-37B ejecuta una uni\u00f3n escalonada por la derecha (<em>echelon right<\/em>) para luego desplazarse ligeramente hacia adelante para ser visto por la tripulaci\u00f3n del KC-130H. Las marcas blancas en la manguera (colocadas cada tres metros) asisten visualmente al piloto del receptor<\/mark> <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">cuanto debe desplazarse hacia adelante. N\u00f3tese en el A-37B, la luz blanca de la sonda de reabastecimiento (<em>air refueling probe) <\/em>encendida, as\u00ed como la luz de nariz, parte del sistema de luces de aterrizaje.  (FAU)<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">La tarea de los pilotos y secci\u00f3n de Dragonfly era de completar un<strong> \u201cTema\u00bb por cada misi\u00f3n: aproximaciones y \u201cenganches\u201d con el reabastecedor siempre en vuelo recto y nivelado.<\/strong> Se practicaron aproximaciones escalonadas (echelon) por izquierda y derecha; convenientes ya que la cabina de dos puestos del A-37B (asientos provistos lado-a-lado) provee un <strong>efecto de paralaje.<\/strong> De todos los \u201cenganches\u201d&#8217; solo uno ser\u00eda <strong>\u00abh\u00famedo\u00bb (con 1000 libras de combustible JP1 transferidas)<\/strong> y dos <strong>\u201csecos\u201d.<\/strong> En caso de demoras operativas, se acord\u00f3 que las aeronaves de combate podr\u00edan recibir combustible adicional; ya que sus sedientos motores GE J85-17A consumen 1500lt\/hr. Los pilotos actuaban con movimientos precisos y ligeros en el bast\u00f3n de mando ; as\u00ed como con constantes variaciones de aceleraci\u00f3n y desaceleraci\u00f3n, a trav\u00e9s de las palancas de potencia de los motores, para lograr el \u201cenganche\u201d. Una vez conectados, para que el combustible fluya hacia la sonda de reabastecimiento de combustible del A-37B,<strong> la canasta debe empujarse hacia adelante el doble de su propia longitud <\/strong>(54 in\/138 cm). inicial durante TANQUE 2022, comentaron sobre la alta concentraci\u00f3n requerida y la tensi\u00f3n en brazos y manos, con las constantes variaciones requeridas en los aceleradores y bast\u00f3n de mando, en cuanto manten\u00edan la mirada en el objetivo: <strong>la \u00abcanasta\u00bb.<\/strong>&nbsp;Las cabinas de la flota de A-37B se han adaptado y son compatibles con las <strong>gafas de visi\u00f3n nocturna (<em>Night Vision Goggles-<\/em>NVG) <\/strong>siendo el sistema <strong>Anvis 9 <\/strong>utilizado actualmente por el Escuadr\u00f3n 2; por lo tanto, si la fuerza requiere a futuro realizar misiones de <strong>REVO nocturno, la tarea podr\u00eda llevarse a cabo.<\/strong> Al final de las misiones y una vez retirados los cascos, pudimos ver a muchos j\u00f3venes pilotos con caras sonrientes y abrazos compartidos con sus compa\u00f1eros argentinos, pilotos de A-4AR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El ejercicio <strong>TANQUE tiene como objetivo fortalecer la confianza mutua y aumentar la cooperaci\u00f3n entre las Fuerzas A\u00e9reas de la regi\u00f3n,<\/strong> ya que todas pertenecen al <strong>Sistema de Cooperaci\u00f3n entre las Fuerzas A\u00e9reas Americanas \u2013 SICOFAA<\/strong>. Adem\u00e1s, el personal participante adquiere un nivel adecuado de interoperabilidad, a trav\u00e9s de procedimientos unificados, para contribuir a la realizaci\u00f3n de Ejercicios Combinados m\u00e1s complejos. De hecho, TANQUE 2022 se llev\u00f3 a cabo con el objetivo de calificar en tareas de REVO a todas las tripulaciones de la FAU (Dragonfly y Hercules) en preparaci\u00f3n para el Ejercicio A\u00e9reo Combinado Internacional <strong>SALITRE 2022.<\/strong>&nbsp; Organizado por la Fuerza A\u00e9rea Chilena (FACh), se realizar\u00eda durante octubre de 2022 en Antofagasta, al norte de Chile. Es un requisito, para participar en este tipo de ejercicios a\u00e9reos multinacionales, tener la calificaci\u00f3n en REVO vigente y como la misma solo es v\u00e1lida por tres meses, se plane\u00f3 un ejercicio TANQUE adicional para m\u00e1s adelante en el a\u00f1o. Desafortunadamente, la presencia de la FAU tuvo que ser cancelada debido a la escasez imprevista en la cadena log\u00edstica (la entrega tard\u00eda de motores de A-37B, los turborreactores General Electric J-85-17A reacondicionados, por parte de una empresa extranjera subcontratada). Una noticia lamentable ya que este tipo de ejercicio permite incrementar y mantener una doctrina de aprovechamiento de los activos disponibles, as\u00ed como la provisi\u00f3n de una adecuada formaci\u00f3n profesional y la conservaci\u00f3n de las competencias ya adquiridas por todo el personal militar de la Fuerza A\u00e9rea Uruguaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con esta reciente gran adici\u00f3n de los KC-130H completada, permanece que la <strong><em>definitivamente vacilante fuerza pol\u00edtica uruguaya<\/em><\/strong> (en lo referente a gastos necesarios para la defensa), decida qu\u00e9 tipo de aeronave de combate adquirir como reemplazo de los veteranos Dragonfly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cielos de la Patria lo demandan: <strong>\u00a1AHORA es el momento!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div
