(Textron Aviation Inc.)<\/span><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>El 9 de abril de 2018, la <strong>Embajada de Canad\u00e1 en Montevideo, Uruguay<\/strong> &#8211; a trav\u00e9s de su representante diplom\u00e1tica Embajadora <strong>Joanne Frappier &#8211; <\/strong>present\u00f3 dos aviones de entrenamiento monomotores turboh\u00e9lice de ala fija, a las autoridades de la <strong>Fuerza A\u00e9rea Uruguaya (FAU)<\/strong>: un <strong>Beechcraft\/Textron T- 6C Texan II y Pilatus PC-7 Mk II<\/strong>. Curiosamente, el Texan es de fabricaci\u00f3n estadounidense y el Pilatus producido en Suiza; sin embargo, Canad\u00e1, que patrocina las presentaciones, construye los motores <strong>Pratt &amp; Whitney PT6A-68A y PT6A-25C<\/strong>, utilizados en dichas aeronaves respectivamente, as\u00ed como varios componentes de su avi\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En esa fecha el <strong>T-6C Texan II <\/strong>&#8211; demostrador de f\u00e1brica matriculado como <strong>N3000B <\/strong>&#8211; construido en Estados Unidos por <strong>Beechcraft\/Textron Aviation<\/strong>, vol\u00f3 a Montevideo desde Santiago (Chile), donde particip\u00f3 en la feria <strong>FIDAE International Air &amp; Space<\/strong>. La aeronave fue presentada a las autoridades uruguayas, incluido su entonces Comandante en Jefe <strong>General del Aire Alberto Zanelli,<\/strong> en las instalaciones de la <strong>Brigada A\u00e9rea No. 1 (Brigada A\u00e9rea 1)<\/strong> contigua al aeropuerto Internacional<strong> Gral. Ces\u00e1reo L. Berisso,<\/strong> en la localidad de Carrasco, cerca de Montevideo. Como antigua operadora de los vetustos T-6 en el pasado, la FAU retiene en dotaci\u00f3n y en condiciones de aeronavegabilidad, una de estas aeronaves. Mas precisamente un <strong>North American Texan AT-6D-NT (<\/strong>matr\u00edcula <strong>FAU 366)<\/strong>, siendo hoy un <strong>avi\u00f3n insignia <\/strong>en el arma a\u00e9rea oriental, participando en desfiles y demostraciones a\u00e9reas. La aeronave participaba del cent\u00e9simo aniversario de la Aviaci\u00f3n Militar Uruguaya y FAU, liderando una formaci\u00f3n de aeronaves de diversos <\/b><\/span><strong><span style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">pa\u00edses. (Gerardo Tajes)<\/span><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">El <strong>FAU 366<\/strong> <strong>(modelo NA-88, c \/ n 88-18228, ex USAF 42-86447)<\/strong> fue uno de los<strong> 50 Texan <\/strong>(Tejano) comprados por Uruguay para su fuerza a\u00e9rea, siendo la mayor\u00eda de ellos recibidos entre 1942 y 1957 (otros cuatro fueron alistados, dos ex <strong>Fuerza A\u00e9rea Chilena&nbsp;<\/strong> en 1978 y dos provenientes de la<strong> Aviaci\u00f3n Naval Uruguaya <\/strong>en 1984, estos \u00faltimos canjeados por un ex T-34A de la FAU). El FAU 366 &#8211; que tambi\u00e9n posee el registro civil <strong>CX-NAT<\/strong> &#8211; sirvi\u00f3 en la fuerza a\u00e9rea desde el 28 de octubre de 1954 hasta el 11 de octubre de 1990. Posteriormente adquirido por un civil en 1991, fue restaurado con mucha dedicaci\u00f3n, con repuestos provenientes&nbsp; de un lote de motores y tres fuselajes, por el piloto comercial uruguayo <strong>Delf\u00edn D\u00edaz<\/strong>. Adquirido por el <strong>Ministerio de Defensa Uruguayo <\/strong>en 2013 como parte de los festejos por los 100 a\u00f1os de la Aviaci\u00f3n Militar en Uruguay, forma hoy orgullosamente parte del <strong>Museo Aeron\u00e1utico Coronel (Av.) Jaime Meregalli <\/strong>ubicado adjacente a la Brigada A\u00e9rea no. 1 de la FAU. La aeronave obtenida en Junio 1957 fue dada de baja en 1989 luego de un leve accidente durante un aterrizaje. Abreu es instructor de vuelo en la Escuela Mili<\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">tar de Aeron\u00e1utica.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong> (Diego Uminsky).<\/strong><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>El<strong> Texan II <\/strong>de construcci\u00f3n estadounidense, fue el ganador de la licitaci\u00f3n para el <strong>Joint Primary Aircraft Training System-JPTAS <\/strong>(Sistema de Entrenamiento de Aeronaves Primarias Conjuntas), competencia realizada conjuntamente por la Fuerza A\u00e9rea y la Marina de Estados Unidos con vistas a reemplazar sus flotas de aeronaves de entrenamiento, iniciada a comienzos de los 90 finalizando en 1995. Los dise\u00f1adores del avi\u00f3n utilizaron el <strong>Pilatus PC-9 <\/strong>suizo como plataforma inicial, realizando m\u00e1s de 500 vuelos de evaluaci\u00f3n por parte de pilotos militares para determinar las necesidades que luego se reflejaron en el dise\u00f1o del nuevo avi\u00f3n. As\u00ed surgi\u00f3 el <strong>T-6A Texan II <\/strong>utilizado por la<strong> Fuerza A\u00e9rea de los Estados Unidos (USAF) <\/strong>reemplazando su flota de <strong>Cessna T-37 <\/strong>y el <strong>T-6B <\/strong>para la <strong>Marina de los Estados Unidos (US Navy) <\/strong>que sustituir\u00eda los <strong>Beechcraft T-34C<\/strong> . Su velocidad m\u00e1xima es de <strong>316 kias (0.67 Mach)<\/strong> y posee seis estaciones de anclaje subalares para armas est\u00e1ndar de la OTAN, dos de ellos preparados con sus respectivos ductos, para la instalaci\u00f3n de tanques de combustible externos con capacidad de de 67,2 US <em>gallons<\/em> (254 litros) cada uno. El modelo, que comparte avi\u00f3nica con el entrenador <strong>PC-9M<\/strong> &#8211; tambi\u00e9n fabricado por Pilatus &#8211; se encuentra en servicio con la Fuerza A\u00e9rea de Sud\u00e1frica, India y la Botswana Air Defense Force. Est\u00e1 equipado con asientos eyectables, entre otras mejoras de rendimiento y caracter\u00edsticas y el fabricante indica que la aeronave brinda el menor costo operativo de motor de cualquier entrenador turboh\u00e9lice. Como se dijo anteriormente, la FAU opera desde 1992 una flota de cinco <strong>PC-7U (localmente designados como AT-92) <\/strong>utilizada para entrenamiento avanzado y de armamento. Ambos est\u00e1n equipados con versiones del omnipresente motor turboh\u00e9lice <strong>Pratt &amp; Whitney<\/strong> <strong>PT-6 <\/strong>(muchos de ellos prestando servicio en Uruguay, tanto en la<strong> FAU <\/strong>como con la <strong>Aviaci\u00f3n Naval Uruguaya<\/strong>), tienen un rendimiento similar y el vasto conocimiento de ellos por parte del personal t\u00e9cnico uruguayo, simplificar\u00eda las tareas de mantenimiento. Las prestaciones del <strong>Texan II<\/strong> podr\u00edan brindarle algunas ventajas ante su oponente suizo, debido a su motor mas potente<strong> PT6A-68A de 1100 shp<\/strong>, contra el <strong>PT6A-25C de 700 shp <\/strong>(<em>derated <\/em>o reducido en potencia desde un m\u00e1ximo de 850 shp, para brindar mayor econom\u00eda y longevidad a la planta de poder) instalado en el <strong>PC-7 MkII. <\/strong>Con mayor velocidad, potencia, carga G, carga \u00fatil y un fuselaje probado en combate &#8211; en el<strong> AT-6 <em>Wolverine<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; podr\u00eda ser una plataforma multi rol moderna para reemplazar tanto a los <strong>PC-7U<\/strong> como al bimotor turboh\u00e9lice <strong>FMA IA-58A Pucar\u00e1<\/strong>, (Ver nota <a href=\"http:\/\/xn--pucar%20-%20el%20fortn%20charra-3sc62b5o\/\">http:\/\/Pucar\u00e1 &#8211; El Fort\u00edn Charr\u00faa<\/a>) retirados por Uruguay a fines del 2016. Argentina &#8211; pa\u00eds vecino de Uruguay &#8211; recibi\u00f3 el 1 de septiembre de 2017, su primer <strong>T-6C Texan II<\/strong>, de un pedido total de <strong>24 aviones para la Fuerza A\u00e9rea Argentina (FAA).<\/strong> De tomarse la decisi\u00f3n del gobierno uruguayo de adquirir esta moderna plataforma, uniendo fuerzas con la FAA, la FAU podr\u00eda sinergizar y simplificar el pedido de repuestos, la cadena de suministro, el mantenimiento y los procesos de capacitaci\u00f3n y planificaci\u00f3n de misi\u00f3n; as\u00ed como poseer una aeronave m\u00e1s apta para la calificaci\u00f3n de sus futuros aviadores, en su Escuadr\u00f3n de Vuelo Avanzado (EVA) y poder reactivar al Escuadr\u00f3n A\u00e9reo no. 1, reemplazando a sus antiguos Pucar\u00e1.&nbsp;Quien escribe, <em>no cree esto posible en el corto plazo<\/em>, por &#8211; bas\u00e1ndose en conversaciones con personal militar uruguayo &#8211; no ser\u00eda prioridad de la FAU ni del estado uruguayo; como si lo es y mucho m\u00e1s apremiante, la obtenci\u00f3n de un reactor de combate para poder neutralizar los vuelos il\u00edcitos &#8211; muchos de ellos de narcotraficantes &#8211; que surcan impunemente, el \u00e9ter Oriental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esperemos a la brevedad entonces, la tan necesaria adquisici\u00f3n para la FAU, de un nuevo sistema de armas, finalmente reemplazando los vetustos <strong>A-37B Dragonfly!<\/strong> (Ver nota <a href=\"http:\/\/a-37b%20dragonfly%20-%20despliegue%20operativo\/\">http:\/\/A-37B Dragonfly &#8211;
